چکیده

This paper presents and analyzes a new dynamic element matching technique for low-harmonic distortion digitalto-analog conversion. The benefit of this technique over the prior art is a significantly reduced hardware complexity with no reduction in performance. It is particularly appropriate for applications such as direct digital synthesis (DDS) in wireless communications systems, where low hardware complexity and low harmonic distortion are essential.

An Analysis of the Partial Randomization Dynamic Element Matching Technique

Partial randomization dynamic element matching (DEM) was recently introduced as a promising DEM technique for low harmonic distortion digital-to-analog conversion. The DEM technique is well suited for applications such as direct digital synthesis in wireless communication systems for which low hardware complexity is essential in addition to low harmonic distortion. Previously reported simulatio...

A 100dB SFDR 0.5V pk-pk Band-Pass DAC Implemented on a Low Voltage CMOS Process

Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) systems generate fine frequency resolution signals over a broad spectrum that are used in a wide variety of applications such as multi-mode RF, communications, measurements and test. A high performance DDS band-pass Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) architecture and implementation is presented that delivers high spectral purity over a narrow-band response. The low...

Reducing multibit DAC circuits errors by a simplified dynamic element matching algorithm used in delta-sigma converters

Resolution of a multibit delta-sigma modulator (DSM) is limited by its internal digital-to-analog converter (DAC) nonlinearity that is usually caused by circuit mismatch errors while realizing. Recently, some dynamic element matching (DEM) methods were proposed for reducing mismatch errors. Two main difficulties of different dynamic element matching (DEM) techniques relate to instability and co...

A Fractional-N Frequency Synthesizer Architecture Utilizing a Mismatch Compensated PFD/DAC Structure for Reduced Quantization-Induced Phase Noise

Techniques are proposed to dramatically reduce the impact of quantization noise in fractional-N synthesizers, thereby improving the existing tradeoff between phase noise and bandwidth that exists in these systems. The key innovation is the introduction of new techniques to overcome nonidealities in a phase-frequency detector (PFD)/digital-to-analog converter (DAC) structure, which combines the ...
